LEAN MANUFACTURING ASSISTANCE HELPS TO PACKAGE SUCCESS FOR AUTOMOTIVE & ELECTRICAL CANISTER MAKER
Challenge:
ITW Sexton Can Company, a Martinsburg manufacturer of deep drawn cans for automotive oil filters and custom canisters for enclosed electrical capacitors, wanted to integrate lean manufacturing practices with all aspects of its operations.
Solution:
WVMEP developed a customized program involving six supervisors responsible for day-to-day operations. During the sessions, supervisors learned about improving production, customer service and transactional processes. This engagement was a continuation of WVMEP's long-standing relationship with ITW Sexton, as WVMEP has helped the company earn and maintain ISO 9001:2000 certification and continues to provide on-site assistance on technical, safety and operational improvement matters.
