For organizations interested in Lean Six Sigma deployment at the Black Belt level, WVMEP provides a comprehensive program to prepare individuals for leadership and management roles in Lean Six Sigma deployment. This program involves an additional 60 hours of knowledge transfer beyond the Green Belt program and prepares individuals for ASQ or equivalent Black Belt certification.
The Black Belt program is facilitated by an ASQ certified Black Belt with Master Black Belt experience. Subject to company requirements, the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt program can be combined with Green Belt training or can be provided as a stand-alone effort in place of Green Belt training.
The Black Belt Lean Six Sigma efforts include additional training in the following areas:
- Involvement and completion of more difficult improvement projects with the candidate Black Belt taking on some of the team training responsibility under the guidance of the WVMEP program facilitator.
- Greater participation with company management in establishing the foundation for long-term deployment of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
- More extensive training in the project management role and leadership of cross-functional teams.
- Requires a higher level of time commitment to training and project completion.
- With WVMEP supervision Black Belt candidates are prepared to perform Green Belt training in conjunction with their preparation for certification.
- Expanded training in measurement and analysis techniques with higher level of applications in data analysis and statistic methods.
- More extensive use of Minitab, iGrafx, and modeling software for project completion.
- Extensive hands on training in Design of Experiment methods beyond the introductory exposure provided in Green Belt training including use/application of Stat-Ease DOE software and the completion of a multi-factor design optimization project.
- Added training in Lean Methods application with emphasis on service, marketing, and transactional use.
- Supplementary hands-on training in FMEA, QFD, and VOC informational processes.
- Project completion integrated with a company established phase gate approval process.
- Additional training for involvement in a “Change Agent” role.
- Expanded training in leadership and facilitation skills.
- In-depth exposure to DFSS, DFX, and Robust Design.
- More Mini-case studies and hand-on practice in service, transactional, and non-manufacturing applications.
The Black Belt program is designed to meet the recently emerging certification trends for preparing high level Continuous Improvement Practitioners in Lean Six Sigma.
